Juvenile Justice Council

 

Mission Statement
The mission of the Second Judicial Circuit Juvenile Justice Council is to provide oversight and support to all counties (communities) of the circuit in their endeavors to support public safety; to address victim's needs and to ensure that youth are held accountable for their conduct and are equipped to mature into productive members of their community.

As citizens of the Second Judicial circuit we recognize youth as our most valuable resource and we accept the developmental challenges they pose as our personal and communities' responsibility.

Goals of the Council
The key goals of the JJC include, but are not limited to:
1. develop, maintain, publish and provide public access to a current, comprehensive local juvenile justice plan, based on cooperative and collaborative manner with all stake holders to prevent or discourage juvenile crime in the Second Judicial Circuit.
2. apply for and receive public or private grants, to be administrated by the JJC or one of the community partners.
3. provide a forum for the presentation of intergovernmental recommendations and the resolution of disagreement.
4. develop and make available a circuit-wide and/or county-wide resource guide for minors in need of prevention, diversion, intervention, psychological, educational, and other support services needed to prevent juvenile delinquency.
5. respond to related matters referred to the JJC by the county boards, the juvenile justice system and social service agencies working with juvenile delinquents and/or truants.
6. encourage the initiation of new programs and support ongoing programs that address juvenile delinquency and/or truancy, including those promoting early intervention and prevention.
